A dream had not yet come true, getting involved with a real vinyl record. Vinyls, which you bought so many of over the years, this magical piece of plastic, embraced by a cover image, had meant so much through the years. It was so much more than just music. You could go to record stores several times a week, looking for new discs to play, and we DJs often met downtown to look for new records. Photo Covers from childhood, crackle, speed, yes, there was something magical about the vinyl disc.
It cost 12.500 SEK to do 500 own discs. It’s the manufacturing cost. Along with two close friends and two more friends who worked as DJs, we shared the costs and revenues equally. As none of the others produce their own music, it’s about to choose songs that I had written and produced.
As the three of us played as a full-time DJs so we took the opportunity to press a little jingles on the disc as well, which could be used during the evenings. One idea I had was to put together a minute with scratch sounds, which followed one after the other, so you could scratch the sound after sound, without having to change discs.
The 500 printed discs were delivered to my home and we sold them all.
