In there, you can here some of my projects. The girl singing in “Knockabout-Reality” and “Pierre J-Set You Free” is Malin Dahlström and is today releasing records in her Grammy-awarded project “Niki & The Dove”. You can hear her in between 8.10-16.15. In the last track you can hear vocals from DaYeene and Fredrik “Apollo” Asplund.
Out of my about 250 remixes I’ve done for different record companies, maybe about 5 of them was rejected and this is one of them.

The time was right to re-use the name Knockabout. Vocals was recorded with my friend Fredrik Nordström, who was already in full swing with the now legendary hard rock studio “Studio Fredman” which today is a world-known concept in the metal scene with recordings and productions for, among others, Dimmu Borgir, Arcitechts, At The Gates and In Flames. John did the male lead-vocals and choirs from Malin Dahlström, who today is active in her Grammy-nominated project “Niki and the Dove.” First single “Reality” included remixes from Johan S who worked at Swemix and this great package ended up top 10 on the Swedish Dance Chart.

Due to the fact that I appeared on over 50 records during 1995 and another 50 during 1996, there were little time to do music which was not scheduled to be released.
But I needed a house-version to play out of “Infinite Mass-Mah Boyz” when it was climbing the charts. The record company was not interested to create any demand for a house-version, due to the fact that they tried to market Infinite Mass as “real hip-hop”, so there were no intentions of getting this released.
This is the last, number 8, in the Absolute Dance Remix-series.
Wild Rock was a popular compilation which was released on Mercury and when Wild Rock 2 was launched, it was time for a medley of songs from these two collections. We are talking about rock songs in radio versions that fades after 3 minutes, which is a nightmare to mix together.
In the first draft, I used the drums from “The Balroom Blitz” during “Sweet Home Alabama,” which sounded very good and also masked the somewhat dodgy time stretch that existed at that time. The record company thought it was a little too much “remix” so these drums were simply removed and the drums now started together with the chorus instead.

Next single by Tellus also reached great success. A top-20 placement on the Swedish Dance Chart, good sales and so it was licensed on over 10 compilations. The vocal is taken from the Gothenburg-based hip-hop group “Tha Brigade” first 12″. Really fun to legally borrow that phrase, because I knew some in the group. In addition to the master mixes, there is also a “303 Dub” where you can hear 2 Roland TB-303 play simultaneously.

This is the mix that never went public.
Absolute Dance Remix 7 in order and there is a story. For what no one knows is that this is one of two mixes that were made. This one, who got released, is the “euro-mix”. The second mix, “house-mix” was never released, but more about that in the next post.

After having participated in 19 records during 1994, the time was right to start an own project, Tellus.
The debut single “Pump Up The Volume” was released and the success was instant. It went straight up on the important “Swedish Dance Chart” and stayed top 10 for a very long time, with a peak at number 4.
